First in Bretagne. A beautiful place (where they put salt in their butter). Nice to be out of the hills of Devon, back on the right side of the road and surrounded with these heaven sent Boulangeries.
Trekking across the mighty Loire. A little flatter than I would have liked, but great food, easy riding and some sweet castles can’t be argued with.
Departing from the Loire (and also our original route. Here we will head southwest to the Alps instead of north to Belgium as originally planned.) Nice to return to some beautiful hills. The ride from Nevers to Marmagne was incredible, as well as our last day of sunshine for a while.
Lots of rain between Marmagne and Poncin. A couple days of rest in Geneva were great, especially swimming in the Rhone. But, damn, these Swiss prices are something else.
